Stowe Mountain | A Perfect Winter Getaway in the Heart of New England

These days, the New England skiing scene is often overshadowed by the giant resorts and vast spaces out west. It shouldn’t be. While the resorts out west are certainly thrilling, Vermont ski resorts have a charm to them that simply can’t be beat. With its fantastic facilities and warm hospitality, Stowe Ski Resort, Vermont, perfectly encapsulates the New England skiing experience.

Gorgeous Mountain Scenery in Stowe Ski Resort

There’s something about the natural scenery of Stowe that captures the romanticism that New England does so well. Stowe Mountain is open year round, and as such its scenery can be experienced in all four seasons. Those who visit in the summer can enjoy music festivals as well as ziplines, high ropes courses, and plenty of hiking trails. You can also visit in the fall to experience the classic New England autumn colors.

Stowe is best experienced in the winter, however, when the entire resort becomes a wonderland of snow and light. The resort’s lodges, built in classical rustic style, make the entire place feel like a postcard come to life. Those looking to take in the nature surrounding the resort can ski, of course, but can also take a scenic gondola ride to see things from a different perspective.

Skiing in Any Style

While Stowe is smaller than other American ski resorts, its size can actually be an advantage. The resort has an air of intimacy to it that is not easily found, and access to private guides can ensure that your trip turns out exactly the way you want it to. Whether you use a guide or not, you can explore dozens of downhill and cross country ski trails. Skiing and snowboarding lessons are also available for beginners.

The Stowe Mountain Resort is divided between two mountains – Spruce Peak and Mount Mansfield – and is split naturally into six distinct zones. Each of these zones has their own feel and atmosphere, and it’s highly recommended that you try them all. Terrain parks are also available for avid thrill-seekers. Whether you’re looking for freestyle adventures or a classic downhill ride, you’ll find yourself having fun before you know it!

Further Stowe Adventures

After hitting the slopes for a few days, you’re bound to want a break. Rest assured that Stowe has plenty to keep you entertained as you rest up. A local ice skating rink is open to the public free of charge, and the Village at Spruce Peak offers shopping experiences in a beautiful setting. For those still looking to get their exercise in, Stowe Rocks provides an indoor rock climbing facility for all ages.

Spruce Peak also features a performing arts center with performances running year round. Stowe is also home to a full roster of events throughout the year, including artisan markets and fireworks displays. You never know what might be happening, so be sure to check the resort website prior to your visit.
